Christie’s Watches and Wristwatches Auction

Published October 8th, 2005

Christie’s watch auction on October 20 in New York includes the complete collection of a “distinguished gentleman.”
The collection includes 151 watches, many of which have never been worn. Top of the list is a fine, rare and important
18k pink gold perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch with moon phases. This watch was made in 1971 and sold by
Tiffany. Patek Philippe produced this 349 examples of this watch, reference 2499, from 1950 to 1985. This watch is from
the third series with round buttons but no tachometer scale. Most of this series was made in yellow gold so the ones in
pink gold are rare.
