NHL player auctions off memorabilia

Frank Mahovlich says it’s time to start scaling down his life and it begins by selling off a mountain of memorabilia he collected in his stellar 22-year hockey career.
”My garage was full,” the six-time Stanley Cup champion and current Canadian senator said Tuesday from his home in Toronto. ”There were so many of them I couldn’t possibly display them in the house.
”I passed a lot on to the Hall of Fame and they put them in the basement. I collected things for 40 years. I’m a collector, I guess.”
Mahovlich announced this week he put 110 items up for auction from his NHL career with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings and Montreal Canadiens.
The former power winger known as The Big M is using the same auctioneers, Classic Collectibles, that raised about $800,000 US in February from trophies, sticks, jerseys and other items from the career of former Canadiens great Jean Beliveau.
