ROSAS, a nonprofit Greater Cincinnati animal rescue group, is hosting an antique appraisal fair and auction Oct. 1 to raise money for adoptable strays and shelter animals.”We did an event like this last year, and it was very successful,” said ROSAS volunteer Karen M. Ware. “This year, we’re trying to make it more attractive. If you get two items appraised for a modest fee, you get the third (appraised) for free.”Participants can get their items appraised by local dealers who are specialists in a number of areas, including dolls, furniture and artwork. If you have a large item, you can leave it in your vehicle or bring a snapshot. The appraisals will be followed with an auction of donated collectibles, merchandise and gift certificates.ROSAS, which stands for Rescue Our Shelter Animals and Strays, was founded by Children’s Hospital employee Kate Zink several years ago in memory of her late German shepherd, Rosa. The Kentucky-based nonprofit group’s volunteers seek responsible foster homes for dogs and some cats, support spay and neuter initiatives and educate the community on humane issues. All money raised will help homeless animals.
