Inventory Locator Service(R), LLC (ILS), the largest and most active e-marketplace for the aviation and defense industries, today announced that it is hosting an online auction of surplus parts for Virgin Atlantic Airways. The auction, which will be open for all ILS subscribers, will begin on September 27 and last for seven days. In an effort to reduce excess inventory, Virgin Atlantic Airways is using ILS to host the online auction which will consist of one lot containing 6,600 pieces of A320, A340, B747-200, and B747-400 rotables and LRUs, in-flight entertainment equipment, components and consumable parts.

ILS’s customized online auction solution enables companies to take advantage of ILS’s expertise without the investment in technology.
“The online auction will allow us to quickly and efficiently eliminate our surplus of parts, while providing a great opportunity for buyers,” said Nick Wakerell, Materials Manager, Virgin Atlantic Airways.
“ILS was a pioneer when we developed one of the first B2B auction platforms in 1998 to increase our customers’ ROI on surplus inventory,” said Bruce Langsen, president, ILS. “The auction set up is a win-win for customers and Virgin Atlantic. Buyers have the opportunity to find parts at tremendous savings and Virgin is able to sell off inventory that would normally go to waste.”
