Maine Audubon Art Auction set for Friday, September 30

Published September 19th, 2005

The eighth annual Maine Artists at Maine Audubon art auction will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, September 30 at Gilsland Farm Audubon Center in Falmouth. A silent auction and reception will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. with guest host Kim Block of WGME News Channel 13, followed at 7:30 p.m. by a live auction led by well-known Maine auctioneer Kaja Veilleux of Thomaston Place Auction Galleries. Maine painter Jane Dahmen is the signature artist for this year’s auction. “I’m honored to be the signature artist,” said Dahmen, who has painted for the auction an acrylic-on-paper diptych landscape of Maine Audubon’s Hog Island Audubon Camp in Bremen. This is the third year in a row Dahmen has donated work to the fundraiser. Dozens of leading artists with ties to Maine contribute their paintings, photography, sculpture, ceramics and jewelry to the auction. Many of these highly selective works portray or are inspired by Maine’s natural world. Also auctioned off will be getaway packages combining hotel accommodations with concert tickets, museum passes and gift certificates to restaurants. Artwork can be previewed now at www.maineaudubon.org or in person at Gilsland Farm Audubon Center starting September 23.
